Q. How does IRI profit from its new product development programs? |
A. Through royalties for the life of resulting patents - although other arrangements may be made in special cases. This arrangement is good for both IRI and for the client since more sales means more gain for both parties. (Consulting income for supervising model-making, etc. is incidental and only covers incremental time contracted for. IRI is happy to minimize or even to eliminate such work since consulting is not its primary activity.)
